Juanita Smith, MD, holds Board Certifications in Internal Medicine, Geriatric Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. After graduating from the Medical College of Virginia at VCU, she completed a Primary Care Internal Medicine Residency at Yale University, where she was named a Yale/Johnson & Johnson International Health Scholar.

Dr. Smith worked as a Hospitalist for 7 years in Delaware and suburban Maryland with active involvement in her community and hospital as chair and member of various committees. She completed a Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship at The George Washington University in 2015 and Geriatric Medicine Fellowship at EVMS in 2017.

Dr. Smith oversees the teaching service at Beth Sholom Village and The Memory Center and participates in quality improvement for geriatric patients at Beth Sholom. After her first year of teaching, she was recognized as a "professional role model" by the MD Class of 2019. Dr. Smith hopes to continue to impart compassionate, scholarly and practical Palliative Medicine and Geriatric Medicine education to her learners for years to come.
