Cheryl Shiflett, PhD, LPC-ACS, ATR-BC, ATCS is a community faculty Assistant Professor and a registered, board-certified art therapist and licensed professional counselor. Dr. Shiflett teaches Group Counseling and Psychotherapy, co-teaches the Clinical Case Conference series and Art Therapy in the Schools, provides clinical art therapy supervision, and serves as capstone chair.

She graduated with a BS and MS in Psychology from Old Dominion University, an MS in Art Therapy from Eastern Virginia Medical School, and a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. Dr. Shiflett has experience working with children and adolescents who have witnessed domestic violence and children with neurodevelopmental and emotional disabilities in a school environment. Her academic and research interests include pedagogy, clinical supervision, and art as a method of inquiry.
