Sent on behalf of Richard V. Homan, MD, President and Provost, Dean of the School of Medicine.

I am writing to share some important information with our healthcare providers who are responding with courage and professionalism during this challenging time.

I know that you cannot shelter in place with your loved ones or stay six feet away from your patients. You are steadfast in your commitment to excellence, yet as long as you are on the front lines of this pandemic, there is always the concern that you may expose your families.

This is why I am so pleased to announce that Old Dominion University has graciously agreed to make campus housing available to full-time, salaried EVMS clinical faculty, residents, fellows and staff who are caring for patients as COVID-19 frontline workers. I want to personally thank ODU President John Broderick and his staff for making this opportunity possible.

The Old Dominion Inn is a 60-room facility that offers occupants a room with a twin bed and a private bathroom, onsite parking, secure Wi-Fi access and laundry facilities. The building is located at 4111 Hampton Blvd., just a short drive from the EVMC campus.

This housing is intended to offer safe, convenient shelter for EVMS medical and health professionals who do not want to return home for fear of exposing their families to the virus. Those full-time, salaried EVMS clinical faculty, residents, fellows and staff interested in requesting a room can do so by contacting Linda Lopez, Parking & Facilities Coordinator, via email at or by calling 757.446.7496.

I could not be more proud to be associated with you and the work you are doing day in and day out for the health of the community. As we meet the challenges of COVID-19 together, please know I consider it a privilege to serve you as President, Provost and Dean.
