Effective Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2021, all employees, students and visitors are required to wear a mask inside all EVMS buildings regardless of vaccination status. The only exception is when a fully vaccinated individual is working alone in a private area.

Those vaccinated: Social distancing will not be required in classrooms or meetings, but participants will be required to wear masks. The lone exception is for all skills training areas (the sim center and the anatomy lab, e.g.) and all clinical areas. Learn more about the vaccination requirements.

Those who are not fully vaccinated are required to wear masks and maintain as much social distance as possible at all times, including when they are in classrooms.

Please note that unvaccinated individuals are at a significantly increased risk for getting serious COVID-19 illness and for spreading COVID-19 to others, including those who are immunocompromised.

Additional considerations:

  • If meals are served, social distancing will be required during the duration of the meal. Boxed lunches and individual bottles are still required.
  • Elevators are still restricted to 2 people per elevator.

Who is fully vaccinated?

People are considered fully vaccinated for COVID-19 two weeks after they have received the second dose in a 2-dose series (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna), or two weeks after they have received a single-dose vaccine (Johnson & Johnson [J&J]/Janssen).

Individuals who have received all recommended doses of a COVID-19 vaccine that is listed for emergency use by WHO (Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines (e.g., COMIRNATY, Tozinameran), AstraZeneca-Oxford COVID-19 vaccines (e.g., Covishield, Vaxzevria), Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) COVID-19 vaccine, Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine, Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine) do not need any additional doses with an FDA-authorized COVID-19 vaccine.
