Tips for Living with High Blood Pressure (Hypertension)

  1. Lose weight by eating smaller portions and more vegetables.
  2. Try quitting smoking; call 1-800-QUIT-NOW for help.
  3. Exercise at least three times a week.
  4. Make half your plate fruits and vegetables and the other half whole grains and lean meats.
  5. Take some time to relax.
  6. Eat less sodium by rinsing canned goods and eating less processed foods.
  7. Drink alcohol in moderation – no more than one drink per day.
  8. Cut back on caffeine.
  9. Watch your blood pressure and monitor it at home.
  10. Stay encouraged to live healthier!
