Current Activities

New Faculty Orientation

The purpose of the new faculty orientation is to provide new faculty with an overview of faculty governance and the educational and research programs available at EVMS.  In addition, important policies and procedures relevant to faculty are reviewed.  Orientation is held three times annually on campus.  A customized program is available for new community faculty members offered in small group settings.

Individual Career Development

The Vice Dean for Faculty Affairs and Professional Development is available for individual consultation with faculty on career planning, promotion and tenure, and general concerns about faculty life, policies and procedures.

Promotion Workshops

Workshops are held throughout the year to educate faculty on the promotion process and the development of a professional dossier.

AAMC Conference Support

Supporting funds are available for qualified faculty to attend and present at various AAMC conferences.

Faculty Recognition

EVMS celebrates the dedication and accomplishments of our faculty with a ceremony and reception.  Special recognition is given to faculty who have achieved milestone years of academic engagement and service.

Annual Performance Review

Consists of an annual review and discussion with the department Chair or division Chief, which serves as an integral component of ongoing career development of faculty.  The discussion will include a review of accomplishments for the current year, goals for the next year and perhaps longer, and resources required to meet those goals.

Networking Lunches

These events are designed to increase opportunities for collaboration and interdisciplinary networking among faculty with the support of the President/Provost and Dean of the School of Medicine.

Professional Enrichment and Growth Grants

Grants are available to faculty who wish to engage in an activity that will promote professional goals as well as advance the academic missions of the department and the institution.  Community faculty are eligible to participate.
