The Tidewater Center for Life Support is a training Department within EVMS that provides basic and advanced life support training to residents, staff and the general public.

The Tidewater Center for Life Support Training (TCLS) offers American Heart Association basic and advanced life support classes, and the American College of Surgeons Advanced Trauma Life Support class These course are taught by certified experienced American Heart  instructors and faculty certified by the American College of Surgeons.

The goal of TCLS Training is effective lifesaving management of victims experiencing cardiopulmonary arrest and life-threatening traumatic injuries by physicians, other health care team members and the lay public.

Courses include: AED Training, and the updated 2010 AHA Science Guidelines!

• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) 
• Automated External Defibrillation
• Bloodborne Pathogens
• First Aid
• Basic EKG Interpretation Course
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Provider and Renewal
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Provider and Renewal
• Advanced Trauma Life Support® (ATLS)
• Combined BLS, ACLS, and PALS Renewal

TCLS Training is an authorized Community Training Center for the American Heart Association. In this role, TCLS provides a home base for five training sites and more than 500 AHA emergency cardiac care instructors throughout Hampton Roads.
