The Office of Student Affairs exists for the purpose of enhancing the quality of student life by creating an environment that supports student academic, physical, emotional, and social development while encouraging students to develop their abilities to the fullest. Committed to this idea, the office complements the medical and health professions academic programs by providing services that help students to enter, enjoy, excel, and exit from EVMS. Students are supported in developing their academic, interpersonal, leadership, and career related skills, while assisting with educational, personal, health, and social challenges.
The Office of Student Affairs provides an environment conducive to scholarship and achievement through administration, programs, and policies reflective of the mission and vision of Eastern Virginia Medical School.

Student Clubs and Leadership Development
The Office of Student Affairs provides leadership and student club support through fiscal, organizational, and institutional assistance.
Social Media Tools - Student Social and Professional Activies
EVMS Students have access to multiple leadership, club and planning social media tools. Refer to the secure EVMS Student Intranet for more information.
Student Community Outreach
EVMS students are involved continually in community service, professional, research, and academic support activities. Over 60 different student clubs and numerous community partnerships serve a multitude of student interests, opportunities, and activities such as HOPEs Student Run Free Clinic.

Assistant Dean of Student Affairs
The Assistant Dean for Student Affairs assists with all aspects of student academic, social, and personal life. He or she advises students in regards to effective strategies for academic success, professional expectations, personal growth, student club and class activities, student governance, student health, and issues related to the learning environment. When advantageous, the Assistant Dean is poised to refer students to the most appropriate resource at EVMS or beyond to acquire the tools, knowledge, or skills necessary to become a health care professional.
