Dermatopathology
A full-service dermatopathology unit is available for the
evaluation of routine diagnostic specimens, consultations, electron
microscopy, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemical and gene
rearrangement studies.
Molecular Pathology
The EVMS Molecular Pathology Lab applies nucleic acid technology for diagnosis and
disease management of patients using state-of-the-art nucleic acid amplification
techniques such as polymerase chain reactions (PCR) to detect minute quantities of
specific DNA or RNA.
Pathology
EVMS provides diagnostic services for pathologic specimens. Specialized
procedures include:
- transmission and scanning electron microscopy
- immunofluorescence
- immunoperoxidase techniques
Major areas of specialization are cytopathology, obstetrics and
gynecologic pathology, renal pathology and surgical pathology. |
