The Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters is the only free-standing children's hospital in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and has 186 beds. It is the regional pediatric referral center for coastal Virginia and Northeastern North Carolina. Over the past several years, the hospital has recorded over 125,000 outpatients visits and over 7,000 inpatient admissions. The faculty are involved in research locally, nationally, and internationally.

Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth occupies a 112-acre site along the Elizabeth River in downtown Portsmouth. This fully accredited, tertiary care hospital is a 360-bed facility with an average daily inpatient load of 238 patients. Through its extensive graduate Medical Education Programs, the Naval Medical Center conducts internships and residency training in medicine, dentistry, psychology, and pastoral care. Naval Medical Center Portsmouth is one of three major teaching hospitals in the Navy with residency programs in 13 specialty areas.

Sentara Leigh Hospital is a 250-bed acute care facility located at the center of the growth corridor serving Norfolk, Virginia Beach, and Chesapeake. The hospital is known for its Institute of Video Surgery, offering state-of-the-art techniques for general, urological, gynecological and orthopedic surgeries; its Orthopedic Specialty Center, serving the majority of the area's joint replacement patients; and its advancements in outpatient diagnostics. Other services include a recently expanded Family Maternity Suite, a mobile mammography unit, and breast and reconstructive surgery.

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is a 644-bed tertiary care facility regionally and nationally known for many of its programs. It is the region's main tertiary care center and the primary teaching hospital for undergraduate and graduate education at EVMS. Special services available include the Nightingale Air Ambulance, which serves the hospital's busy Level I Trauma Center. The Heart Pavilion has active programs in invasive and noninvasive cardiology, open heart surgery, heart and lung transplant, and cardiac rehabilitation. The hospital also has an active kidney transplant service as well as on-site programs in sleep medicine, epilepsy and oncology.

Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital is a 274-bed acute care hospital dedicated to providing a comprehensive array of sophisticated services including open heart surgery; trauma services; and a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Virginia Beach General Hospital also offers innovative technology in the areas of orthopedics and neurosciences with a dedicated nursing wing for services including stroke treatment, total joint replacements and trauma surgery. Other specialty services encompass a Diabetes Treatment Center, an accredited Sleep Disorders Center and a variety of wellness programs including community education classes, support groups and health screenings.
