The Adult and Pediatric Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship was founded in 1975 by Charlie and Pat Devine. This two-year (optional three-year) program emphasizes basic research and female/pelvic reconstructive procedures in the first year, and advanced penile/ urethral reconstructive procedures in the second year. Due to the unique and high volume nature of this referral practice, resident experience is not diminished. Currently, there are three fellowship-trained pelvic reconstructive physicians on faculty.

A fellowship in Endourology/Laparoscopy was founded in 2002 by Michael D. Fabrizio. Clinical exposure to advanced endourology and laparoscopy procedures is obtained including percutaneous/ureteroscopy, laparoscopic/robotic radical prostatectomy, and the full range of laparoscopic kidney surgery—radical nephrectomy, partial nephrectomy, donor nephrectomy, cyrotherapy, pyeloplasty, and adrenalectomy.

Four active faculty, one community, and two Navy routinely employ laparoscopic techniques, and therefore both residents and fellows are well-trained. Endourology/Laparoscopy fellows are expected to obtain a Virginia License and credentials as junior faculty so they can practice limited general urology. Clinical research with presentation at meetings is supported.  This is a one year program.
