    • Bio:
    • Barbara Ann Cubic, Ph.D. is a Professor at Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) with joint appointments in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and the Department of Family and Community Medicine.  She serves as the Co-Director of the EVMS Clinical Psychology Internship Program, Director of the EVMS Integrated Care Fellowship, and Director of the EVMS Cognitive Therapy Program.  She is a Certified Cognitive Behavioral Therapist, Certified Trainer/Consultant, and Founding Fellow of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy.  Her clinical and research interests are in cognitive behavioral therapy, eating disorders, psychological aspects of bariatric surgery, and primary care psychology.  She has been awarded multiple state and national funding grants.  In 2002, she wrote one of the first funded HRSA Graduate Psychology Education (GPE) grants and received additional GPE three year grants in 2007, 2010 and 2014 focused on training psychologists and primary care physicians to provide integrated care. She has also received two substantial grants from the State of Virginia for Workforce Development and served as editor of the Journal of Clinical Psychology in Medical Settings from 2007-2012.   In 2010 she was awarded the Cummings PSYCHE Prize by the American Psychological Foundations for her work in Integrated Care.  In 2011 she served as the chair for the American Psychological Association’s Board of Educational Affairs Task Force of Primary Care Training and in 2012 served as the Health Psychology (Division 38 of APA) representative to the American Psychological Association’s Interorganizational Work Group on Competencies for Psychological Practice in Primary Care.  She currently serves as Past President of the Association of Psychologists in Academic Health Centers, Treasurer for the Society of Clinical Psychology (Division 12 of APA) and Member-at-Large for the Council of Clinical Health Psychology Training Programs (CCHPTP).  In 2014 she received the Outstanding Contributions to Clinical Health Psychology Award from Division 38 (Health Psychology) of the American Psychological Association.
