Fred Bagares, DO
Born and raised in Virginia, Dr. Bagares is board certified in sports medicine and physical medicine & rehabilitation. His clinical interests include biomechanics, rehabilitation medicine, pain science, spine care, electrodiagnostic medicine, musculoskeletal ultrasound, and medical education.
Physical medicine & rehabilitation, also known as physiatry, is a medical specialty that focuses on how bone, muscle, and nerve injuries/diseases influence movement. “I have always been interested in musculoskeletal injuries and sports from a young age and coming from an osteopathic medicine background, the transition to PM&R and sports medicine was very natural”.
Dr. Bagares’ personal goal is to treat patients as quickly, efficiently and cost effective as possible. Most musculoskeletal injuries or pain do not require surgery but have a movement pattern and behavior behind them. His approach is to understand exactly why each patient uses their body as it relates to their injury and not to focus solely on the pain component. He understands that every patient is different so the treatment plan must also be flexible and diverse.
When appropriate, Dr. Bagares often collaborates with psychologists, physical therapists, occupational therapies, speech therapists, teachers, athletic trainers, acupuncturists, chiropractic physicians, personal trainers, etc.View Bio View CV
