EVMS Health Services surgeons provide state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic services for most surgical disorders, including specialized surgical expertise in the areas of Trauma and Critical Care, Endocrine Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Plastic Surgery, Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Laparoscopy, General Thoracic Surgery and Ophthalmology.  All of our surgeons are certified by the American Board of Surgery and have extensive expertise in treating diseases of the abdomen, gallbladder, pancreas, stomach, colon, anorectal, and endocrine organs.  Patients diagnosed with adrenal problems, parathyroid and thyroid diseases are also treated surgically. Our surgical faculty are also extensively involved in treating diseases of the esophagus, as well as hernias, sarcomas/melanomas, and burns.

We are also available to assist in the management of patients with complex oncologic diseases of the breast, providing comprehensive diagnosis and treatment.

EVMS Health Services surgeons are the physician component of Sentara Norfolk General Hospital's level 1 trauma facility.  There are only five such facilities in the Commonwealth.  As core members of a level 1 trauma center, EVMS surgeons demonstrate their committment to complete comprehensive surgical servies and educational research. 

Our surgeons also provide medical care for burn patients at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, the designated burn center regionally for Hampton Roads.
