Ophthalmic Technology Program

Curriculum

Sixty college credits at the junior and senior level are earned during this 22-month Ophthalmic Technology program.

Together with the appropriate prerequisites, the graduate may earn a Bachelor of Science in Health Science degree. All program graduates earn a certificate of completion from Eastern Virginia Medical School and Old Dominion University.

V. Ophthalmic Technology OPHS - 60 credits total

OPHS courses designate Ophthalmic Technology courses including, but not limited to, topics on: History Taking, Anatomy and Physiology, Optics, Sensory and Motor Evaluation, Ocular Disease, Pharmacology, Photography, Ultrasonography, Contact Lenses, Surgical Assisting, etc.

Graduates are eligible to sit for national written and practical board exams sponsored by the Joint Commission of Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology.
