  • Summer student research program

This program has been combined with the EVMS Pediatrics Summer Scholars Program and is no longer administered by the EVMS Office of Research.  This program allows for research in many areas and Departments.  For more information, see below.

The Summer Scholars Program is a mentored research internship offered by the Department of Pediatrics of Eastern Virginia Medical School at Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters in Norfolk, Virginia. The competitive 9-1/2 week program is open to college seniors (rising or graduating) and first- or second-year graduate or medical students who are exploring potential careers in medical, biomedical, public health, or behavioral research.  Application deadline for the 2012 summer program is February 3.

Research Day takes place every fall and its purpose is to enhance awareness of the exciting and varied basic, as well as applied research that is currently being undertaken in the biomedical sciences within the EVMS community. In addition, this event gives young investigators the opportunity to exchange ideas and information with peers and colleagues in an informal, one-on-one format made available through a poster session.

Abstracts of research are now accepted for poster presentations from medical students, graduate students, residents, postdoctoral fellows and clinical fellows.
