Obstetrics/Gynecology Residency Program

Educational Conferences, Workshops, Seminars, and Grand Rounds (protected time)

Grand Rounds
Steve Warsof, M.D., lectures at the
Core Curriculum Conference.

Grand Rounds
Thursday mornings:
8 a.m. - 9 a.m.
Lectures by faculty, visiting faculty, and residents on pertinent obstetrics/gynecology topics.

Core Curriculum Conference
Thursday mornings:
9 a.m. - 10 a.m. immediately following Grand Rounds. Didactic lectures covering essential topics.

High-Risk Conference
Twice monthly during protected didactic time on Thursdays; medical students on the obstetrics and gynecology rotation attends, as well.
Formal review of antepartum and postpartum management of selected patients on perinatal service.

Pre-operative conference.

The Jones Institute Values Conference
Weekly, flexible times
Review of laboratory indices for infertility patients undergoing in vitro fertilization.

Pathology Conference
Every other Tuesday at noon
Review of tissue specimens obtained during surgery.

Morbidity/Mortality Conference
Second Tuesdays: 7:30 – 9 a.m.
Residents present to faculty and fellow residents complicated patient management and/or pathophysiology problems encountered in the prior month.

Residents' Business Meeting
Second Thursday of each month: 8 a.m.
The department chair, resident director, and residents meet to discuss policies, procedures, grievances, and other business; then, residents conduct a private meeting.

Journal Club presentations.

Journal Club
Third Wednesday of each month, September - May.
Meets in Room 156 Jones Institute and includes dinner. Interns present one journal club article during the year, while PGY-2s, PGY-3s, and PGY-4s present two articles annually.

Obstetrics/Pediatrics Grand Rounds
Fifth Thursday of applicable months: 8 a.m.
Join lectures for the obstetrics and pediatrics departments featuring topics of interest to both.

Multidisciplinary Gynecology Tumor Board
Second Monday of each month: 7:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.
Bon Secours DePaul Cancer Center
Community Education Conference Room
Formal presentation and discussion of cancerous tumors.

Reproductive Endocrine and Infertility Lecture Series
Mondays and Wednesdays at noon

Research Opportunities
Faculty mentors guide residents as they conduct research studies that residents present at the annual Resident Research Day program.

Mid-Atlantic Annual Ultrasound Symposium in OB/GYN (3 days)
Course taught by Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine faculty and national experts for the local and national audiences; CME credit is offered for this course.

GME Ethics Seminars
Meets Wednesday September, November, January, March, and May from 3 – 4 p.m.

GME Sponsored Patient Safety Series
Meets four times per year from 3 p.m. – 4 p.m.
