- PGY1: $44,582
- PGY2: $45,810
- PGY3: $47,037
- PGY4: $48,265
Leave
- Vacation: Residents receive 3 weeks
of paid vacation per academic year
- Sick Leave: 20 days per year
- Educational Leave: Maximum of 5 days
per year at the discretion of the residency
Insurance
- Health Insurance: A premier health
plan is provided to the resident free of charge. A premium is charged
to the resident for immediate family members who need coverage. Other
health plans are also available. Additional premiums are charged for
dental insurance for the resident and immediate family members.
- Life Insurance
- Term life insurance equal to annual
pay is provided to all residents
- Disability Insurance: Begins after a
6-month waiting period and provides 60 percent of monthly salary
- Professional Liability Insurance:
Provided at no cost for all medical activities within the scope of the
residency training program
- Retirement: Residents may contribute
to either TIAA/CREF or to mutual funds.
- Workers' Compensation: All house
staff are covered by EVMS Workers' Compensation.
Duties While On Call
- Checkout is at 5 p.m. in the
Residents' Office. Night float receives sign-out from the day team. In
the morning, there is a transition from ~5:30 a.m. - 6:30 a.m.
- Weekend Call: The oncoming team
arrives at 6:30 a.m. to help the night team complete work rounds.
- Checkout is at 7:15 a.m. If there is
a delivery, a Caesarean-section, or another operation in progress,
checkout may be delayed.
