Soon EVMS students and faculty in the Master of Public Health program will have the opportunity to work and study in the Republic of Moldova. Earlier this month, representatives from EVMS traveled to the State Medical and Pharmaceutical University Nicolae Testemitsanu in the Republic of Moldova to sign an affiliation agreement for a student and faculty exchange program for the Master of Public Health program that will begin in May 2014.
In addition to signing the agreement, C. Donald Combs, PhD, EVMS Vice President and Dean of the School of Health Professions; Robert Alpino, Director of the Eastern Virginia Area Health Education Center and Instructor in the School of Health Professions; and Terri Babineau, MD, Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and Director of Service Learning, visited the School of Management in Public Health, the Center for Chinese Medicine, the University Clinic of Primary Health Care, the University Center for Medical Simulation Training, the Department of Family Medicine and student dormitories.
The new agreement provides for the exchange of students and faculty from both institutions to share practices in managing public health projects.
The collaboration between EVMS and the State Medical and Pharmaceutical University Nicolae Testemitsanu, located in Eastern Europe, began about 13 years ago with the creation of the University Clinic of Primary Health Care and Clinic PROSAN, modeled after EVMS’ Ghent and Portsmouth Family Medicine programs.
