EVMS launches region-wide campaign for National Diabetes Month

Have you been seeing spots around Hampton Roads? Do not worry. Those dots you see scattered around are just part of a month-long regional campaign launched by EVMS to raise awareness about diabetes for National Diabetes Month.
The campaign is built around a colorful Diabetes Infographic with the theme, “Dot your i’s and cross your t’s. Know your diabetes risk.” Not only can the infographic be seen online, but also on campus at EVMS and at campaign partners’ locations around the region in the form of sidewalk decals, window clings and posters.
Partnering with EVMS on this campaign are the cities of Chesapeake, Norfolk and Portsmouth; Healthy Norfolk; Healthy Portsmouth; the Norfolk Admirals; Hampton Roads chapters of the American Diabetes Association and the JDRF; Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters; and Newport News-based Ferguson Enterprises.
The dots are also taking over social media. Those with Facebook pages are encouraged to download a profile picture and cover photo to show their support during November. Daily diabetes statistics also will be posted to EVMS’ Facebook and Twitter pages for all to share with their friends and families. A list of risk factors for developing Type 2 diabetes is also provided.
