EVMS Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine welcomes Board-Certified High-Complexity Laboratory Director (HCLD) and Head of Embryology: Gerard Celia, Jr, PhD

We are pleased to announce the newest addition to our team of Reproductive Medicine Specialists: Board-Certified High-Complexity Laboratory Director (HCLD) and Head of Embryology: Gerard Celia, Jr, PhD.
Dr. Celia graduated with a BS in Animal Science from the University of Connecticut. After completing his Doctorate in Molecular Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Vermont College of Medicine in 2004, he remained to fulfill his post-doctorate clinical training in Reproductive Endocrinology.
Upon completion of his training, Dr. Celia served as an Embryologist at Women and Infants Hospital in Providence, RI. From there, he was recruited by Dominion Fertility in Arlington, VA, where he rose from the rank of Senior Embryologist to that of Laboratory Director. Additionally, he has worked with George Washington University and Virginia Commonwealth University as an Associate Professor and lecturer for their combined Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program since 2014. He has also spent time as an offsite laboratory director and consultant to several other clinics and companies and brings with him over a decade of hands-on experience in this highly-specialized field.
In joining our team of specialists, Dr. Celia stated, “As the Embryology Laboratory Director and Assistant Professor at Eastern Virginia Medical School, my goal is to ensure that The Jones Institute lives up to its historic reputation as one of the premier centers for reproductive care in the country.”
Dr. Celia and his wife just welcomed their first child in March of this year. In their spare time, they raise and train warmblood horses and enjoy traveling, surfing, snowboarding, and Harley Davidson motorcycles.
