EVMS recognizes the need to improve access to health care, provide more culturally competent care
and reduce health-care disparities, particularly among minority and
underserved populations. As such, EVMS supports the campaign of the
Association of
American Medical Colleges to “increase diversity in
medicine by encouraging more well prepared African-American,
Hispanic/Latino and Native American students to pursue careers in
medicine.”
We join the AAMC in inviting you to visit
AspiringDocs.org,
the new AAMC Web site and campaign to increase diversity in medicine.

The Office of
Minority Affairs serves as EVMS' central division for diversity
initiatives, including recruitment, facilitation of entry and retention
programming.

Graduation Day |
The Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and Director of Minority Affairs
encourages individual appointments with premedical students to review student profiles in
preparation for medical school. In addition, candidates routinely meet with the staff of
the Office of Minority Affairs on the day of their interview to discuss student support
services.
