Professor and Head Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolic Diseases Research Center Eastern Virginia Medical School
Eastern Virginia Medical School is making a major commitment to strengthen, expand, and integrate its biomedical sciences research program.
As a first step in this process, we solicit applications for Professor and Head of a new Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolic Diseases Research Center at EVMS. The candidate is expected to:
- have a Ph.D. and/or M.D.
- be a nationally recognized and established scientist in diabetes, obesity, metabolic diseases research
- have active NIH R01 or comparable cutting-edge extramural research grant support with translational impact
- possess outstanding records of scholarly activity; and
- foster a collaborative research environment in the new Research Center.
The specific area of research is open, but potentially may be on insulin resistance, fetal programming, or gene targeting/transfer. The new Center Head will hold a primary academic appointment within the Department of Internal Medicine and be expected to participate in hiring an Associate Director, foster collaborative research ties, establish a nationally prominent research center and develop an NIH Program Project or Centers Grant in diabetes, obesity, metabolic diseases research. EVMS offers superb opportunities for collaboration and growth. The Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolic Diseases Research Center will span and be comprised of investigators from several academic departments.
