Hofheimer HallHofheimer Hall is the home for the Department of Internal Medicine. It serves as a home base for residents.

Both Attendings and Residents hold clinics at this facility. Several subspecialties also housed here, including:

  • The Glennan Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology
  • Pulmonary/Critical Care
  • Infectious Diseases

Grand Rounds are held here every Wednesday morning at 8:00 a.m.


Sentara Norfolk General HospitalSentara Norfolk General Hospital is a 644-bed tertiary care facility that is regionally and nationally known for many of its programs. It is the region's main tertiary care center and the primary teaching hospital for undergraduate and graduate education at EVMS. Special services available include the Nightingale Air Ambulance, which serves the hospital's busy Level I Trauma Center. The Heart Pavilion has active programs in invasive and noninvasive cardiology, open heart surgery, heart and lung transplant, and cardiac rehabilitation. The hospital also has an active kidney transplant service as well as on-site programs in sleep medicine, epilepsy and oncology.

DePaul Hospital Established as an eight-room infirmary to treat yellow fever victims in the late 1850s, Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center has grown to a highly respected 366-bed acute care facility serving Norfolk. Residents at DePaul rotate on elective services such as cardiology, nephrology and rheumatology.

VA Medical Center: HamptonHampton Veterans' Administration Medical Center (VAMC) has 142 acute beds in medicine, surgery psychiatry, and neurology; 234 extended care beds in intermediate medicine, palliative (hospice) care, spinal cord injury and nursing home care; and a 294-bed rehabilitative residential care domiciliary for a total of 670 operating beds.

Established in 1870, Hampton is the fourth oldest VA hospital in the country. The 33 major buildings are located on an 83.5-acre campus facing the Hampton Roads harbor and bounded by Interstate I-64. Hampton VAMC has an $82 million operating budget and has approximately 1,200 employees. We train 50 medical residents, 100 medical students, and over 600 allied health professionals each year. Research emphasis is on diseases related to aging and nutrition.


Sentara Leigh HospitalSentara Leigh Hospital is a 250-bed acute care facility located at the center of the growth corridor serving Norfolk, Virginia Beach, and Chesapeake. The hospital is known for its Institute of Video Surgery, offering state-of-the-art techniques for general, urological, gynecological and orthopedic surgeries; its Orthopedic Specialty Center, serving the majority of the area's joint replacement patients; and its advancements in outpatient diagnostics. Other services include a recently expanded Family Maternity Suite, a mobile mammography unit and breast and reconstructive surgery.
