The First Virginia Chapter of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care

The mission of ANAC is to promote the individual and collective professional development of nurses involved in the delivery of health care to persons infected or affected by HIV and to promote the health and welfare of infected persons.

This is accomplished through an effective network of nurses in AIDS care, through educational conferences, exchanges of ideas and experiences and providing leadership to the nursing community on HIV/AIDS related matters.

The Virginia chapter was established in November 1999 and is the first ANAC chapter established in the State.

The Virginia Chapter normally meets for a business or educational program on the third Monday evening of each month at various locations throughout Hampton Roads.

There are four levels of membership as follows:

  • Active Members

Licensed Registered Professional Nurses or Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses. Annual dues $70.

  •  Associate Members

Students enrolled full-time in an accredited school of nursing. Annual dues $53.

  •  Affiliate Members

Persons affiliated with the health care industry who support the goals of the Association but do not meet the requirements for another category.  Annual dues $70.

  • Disabled Members

HIV positive nurses or persons otherwise disabled. Annual dues $53.
