C3ID - Center for the Comprehensive Care of Immune Deficiency C3ID provides comprehensive, state-of-the-art care to adults infected with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) throughout the Hampton Roads area. Confidential and client sensitive services are provided to over 1,000 people by a professional staff of specialized care providers. This team of providers includes five board-certified Infectious Disease physicians, a general internist and family practitioner who specializes in HIV care, three nurse practitioners specializing in HIV care, medical counselors, and case managersall ready to address a range of client specific needs.
CARE Clinic The Children's AIDS Research and Education (CARE) Clinic is a multidisciplinary clinic providing primary and specialty care for HIV infected mothers and children based at the Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters. The medical staff includes Thomas Rubio, M.D., Director and Douglas Mitchell, Specialist in Pediatric Infectious Diseases. The team includes social workers, specialty nurses, educational specialists and nutritionists. The clinic also offers the availability of NIH funded AIDS clinical trials as well as trials with new drugs provided by pharmaceutical companies. These clinical trials provide the opportunity for treatment of pediatric AIDS patients with the most advanced therapies.
Tidewater Regional AIDS Center (TRAC) Established in 1992, the Tidewater Regional AIDS Center provides comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic services to women infected with HIV. Care is coordinated with the Children's AIDS Research and Education (CARE) Clinic for pregnant and postpartum women as well as with C3ID clinic for long term therapy. Specific areas of expertise provided by TRAC include high-risk obstetrics, family planning, general gynecology and urogynecology.
