Surgical Assistant Program

Certificate Program Curriculum

Completion Certificate Program Credit Hours = 55

Students enrolled in the 55-credit-hour Certificate Program will complete 31 credits of didactic training and 24 credits during the clinical year. Students may opt to complete a Trauma rotation as a 2-credit-hour elective; thus their total credit hours at completion of the program will be 57.

1,500 hours of clinical experience with up to 25% of training in surgical specialty such as Orthopedics, Plastics, Cardiac, Vascular, and Neurological (Trauma -Optional Elective 2 credit hours)       

Advanced training seminars in surgical skills/procedures, job-seeking skills and ethics

Lecture/discussion seminars directed by the SA Program Medical Director about current surgery techniques
