Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q Why does the program begin in January?

A

A new class enters each January because that allows us to most effectively share faculty and other resources of EVMS. It also allows our students to graduate in May with the rest of the school.

Q Is the program “full-time”?
A Yes, each entering class progresses through the program as a single cohort.

Q When is the application deadline?
A All applications must be received by CASPA no later than March 1.

* * * * *

Q How much time am I required to spend with each Physician Assistant that serves as a Mentor/Role Model?
A Any number of role modeling experiences may be done, but the program requires a minimum of 6 hours.

Q Do you require GRE or MCAT testing?
A There are no exams required prior to applying to the Program.

* * * * *

Q Do you require previous medical experience?
A No, we do not require previous medical experience in order to apply. It is helpful, and the admissions process favors those who have clinical experience.

Q If I am in this country on a work or student visa, may I apply to the program?
A No, we may only accept applicants who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents (green card).
