The Faculty

Sarah Deaver, M.S. Ed, ATR-BC, LPC

Sarah DeaverSarah Deaver, M.S. Ed, ATR-BC, LPC, is a registered, board-certified art therapist. She has been on the faculty since 1982, and is a full-time faculty member and Research Director of the Graduate Art Therapy Program and an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.

She graduated with a B.S. in Art from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York. She has a Master of Science degree in Art Therapy from Eastern Virginia Medical School and a Master of Science degree in Education (Guidance and Counseling) from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va.

Ms. Deaver teaches a range of courses in her interest areas, which include adolescent development, psychotherapy with adolescents, and research. She serves on the AATA Research Committee, coordinating the Research Roundtable at the annual conference and has been a director on the ATCB. She is a doctoral student at Old Dominion University.
