
Continuing Medical Education
Virginia Geriatrics Society Conference, an annual
conference in March, provides physicians involved in the care and management of elderly
patients an update of the recent advances and state of the art treatment of common
geriatric health disorders. The Department of Veterans Affairs Employee Education System
designates this educational activity for a maximum of 18 hours in category 1 credit
towards the American Medical Association Physicians Recognition Award. The program
has been reviewed and is acceptable for 16.75 prescribed hours by the American Academy of
Family Physicians. The Glennan Center sponsors the symposium and faculty serves as course
directors.

Family Medicine Review Course presented in early summer by Department of Family
and Community Medicine, Eastern Virginia Medical School. This course has been developed
for the family physician seeking a review and update of his/her clinical knowledge. Other
primary care providers such as general practitioners, general internists, pediatricians,
nurse practitioners, and physician assistants will also benefit. Residents and medical
students are also invited to attend. This course is of value to family physicians
preparing to take the certification or recertification examination of the American Board
of Family Practice. Glennan Center faculty and associates provide a
series of lectures and an evening workshop devoted to geriatrics.

Grand Rounds presentations by faculty and visiting
professors are given within various Departments of Eastern Virginia Medical School.
Additional grand rounds, scientific programs and lectures are presented for medical
societies, medical staff and health professionals in various venues throughout Hampton
Roads, nationally and internationally.
