Tuition Assistance Grant Program
EVMS students benefit from the state-funded Tuition Assistance Grant Program (TAGP). This program provides grants to students in degree programs to help offset the costs of a private versus a public education. All recipients must meet the State Council of Higher Education in Virginia (SCHEV) and Commonwealth of Virginia residency requirements.
A student may only receive TAGP for four years of graduate and/or professional study and four years of undergraduate study even if one or more years are to be repeated. Those enrolled in programs leading to a second bachelor’s, master’s or professional degree are not eligible to receive awards. Students not paying full tuition are ineligible to receive any TAGP funds during that period and those students receiving full tuition scholarships are also ineligible to receive TAGP awards.
Applications are available in the Office of Financial Aid or can be downloaded here . Applications must be returned to the Office of Financial Aid by July 31.
Department of Health and Human Services Scholarship Programs
National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Scholarship The National Health Service Corps scholarship provides tuition, fees, and a living expense stipend for the academic year. For each year that the student receives the scholarship, he/she must repay with one year of service in the uniformed Health Service Corps, Indian Health Service, federal prisons or in an area designated as a physician shortage area. Students who have previously received the EFN scholarship receive priority in the NHSC selection process.
Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students (SDS) SDS are awarded to exceptionally needy students from disadvantaged backgrounds in accordance with DHHS regulations. These students are defined as those whose environment may have inhibited the student from gaining admission to a medical school, or to those who come from a low-income family as outlined in DHHS regulations.
