Entrance Loan Counseling

In an effort to assure that every student is an informed borrower, EVMS and federal regulations require every student to participate in an entrance loan counseling before applying for federal loans.  EVMS also requires entrance loan counseling for institutional loans as well. The entrance loan counseling is an integral part of the student's financial plan. It communicates information about the student's responsibilities and about each loan the student plans to borrow: the grace periods, deferment options, interest rates, prepayments, consolidation options and general repayment obligations. Mandatory entrance loan counseling will be conducted during the student's orientation program.

MS Biomedical Sciences - Clinical Embryology and Andrology students ONLY: Because you will be completing your coursework via distance education, entrance counseling can be completed at StudentLoans.gov using your FAFSA PIN to log in.   All other students must attend their counseling session.

Exit Loan Counseling

Before graduating or leaving a program, student borrowers are required to participate in exit loan counseling.  This is a federal requirement for students who have borrowed federal education loans to remind students of their responsibilities and rights, preparing for repayment, as well as total amounts borrowed through the OFA.  Students who have institutional loans are also required to attend these sessions.  More information about the status of federal loans disbursed in a student's name may be found at the National Student Loan Data System using the FAFSA PIN.
