Student Loans

The Student Loan Office of Eastern Virginia Medical School is responsible for the disbursement and collection of school-administered loans to include the following:

• Federal Perkins/National Direct Student Loans
• Health Professions Student Loans
• Primary Care Loans
• Loans for Disadvantaged Students
• EVMS Private Loan Funds

Additionally, the office handles institutional exit interviews, deferments, and cancellations for the loan programs and listed above.

For specific information on outside loans (such as Stafford loans), please contact your lender, servicer or the Office of Financial Aid. Specific questions regarding eligibility for the different types of deferment or forbearance for school-administered loans may be addressed to the EVMS Student Loan Office by mail, telephone or email at mitchead@evms.edu (see below for other contact methods). To download a form you will need in order to apply for deferment or forbearance, please select from the following:

• Cancellation – Perkins/Federal Perkins
• Deferment – Perkins
• Economic Hardship – Federal Perkins
• Certification of Deferment - HPSL/PCL/EFN/LDS/FADHPS
• Deferment – EVMS Private Loan Funds
• Deferment - Military - Perkins
• Financial Arrangement Form - UAS
