Achievements and Scholarly Activities
Welcome to the Ghent Family Medicine (GFM) Residency Program at EVMS. The GFM Residency Program was established in 1975. It is an accredited three-year program which meets all the training requirements of the American Board of Family Medicine.

Our Family Medicine Center on the medical school campus serves patients of all ages, from newborn to the geriatric population.

Our residents manage a large patient population seen within a variety of outpatient and inpatient clinical settings under close supervision of our clinical teaching faculty.

Our state-of-the-art ambulatory facility on the main campus opened in 2008 and includes a fully implemented electronic health record system and active quality improvement programs.

Teaching, scholarly activities and research are strongly supported as means of elevating the learning experience of residents. The administrative staff is integral in providing our residents with practice management skills. Thus, our curriculum combines the academic stimulation of a university program with the rich resources of the community.

I believe we have an excellent program for individuals who are attracted to our environment.
