Scheduled Training Courses

Radiation Safety in the Laboratory

A seven (7) hour course required for all individuals proposing to use radioactive material at EVMS. The course is offered in two (2) half-day sessions at least 
four (4) times
each year. There is a quiz at the end of the course. Course announcements will be sent to departments in advance.

Chemical Hygiene Plan

A two (2) hour laboratory safety course for individuals handling chemicals in laboratories. Topics include hazard recognition, storage of chemicals, signs and labels, and waste disposal. The course is offered at least four (4) times each year. Course announcements will be sent to the departments in advance.

Classroom Trainings

Annual Radiation Safety Refresher

A one (1) hour session required for all Authorized, Qualified, and Restricted Users of radioactive material. Current issues in Radiation Safety are discussed. Dates, times, and locations are scheduled with each department annually.

Hazard Communication (HAZCOM)

A one (1) hour hazards recognition course for Housekeeping, Security, Maintenance, Materials Management, Clinic Staff, etc. Offered quarterly and as needed by various departments.

Dates, times, and locations to be determined. Call the EH&S Office at 446-5798 for dates of the next sessions.
