Reserves

Information for Faculty and Staff
The purpose of the Reserve Collection is to gather course and other materials in one location for student use and to ensure that every student in the class has equal access to the assigned material.

Required readings should be placed on reserve. Please provide a list of materials required for your course so the library can make them available to students.

Faculty may request books, videos, journal articles, and other materials to be placed on reserve. Reserves are located behind the circulation desk. The instructor may place restrictions on the length of time an item can be checked out:

  • In-Library use only
  • Two hours
  • Overnight
  • Three days

To put course materials on reserve, you must

  • Fill out the reserve request form. Request forms are also available at the circulation desk. Reserve Collection Request Form PDF icon
  • Bring the materials along with the reserve request form at the circulation desk.
  • Allow sufficient time for materials to be processed at the beginning of each semester.

The Library will accept reserve requests from faculty and staff only.

Any materials reproduced for the purposes of your course must be in accordance with Copyright law.

If you have any questions, please call 446-5850.

Information for Students
Instructors often put required reading materials, computer software, and audiovisuals on reserve for their courses or clerkships. Reserve materials must be requested and checked out at the Circulation Desk. These materials usually circulate for two hours/overnight, but instructors sometimes specify longer circulation periods. Two hours before the Library closes, materials may be checked out overnight. Items must be returned within one hour after the Library opens on the due date.

The Library will accept reserve requests from faculty and staff only. Requests will not be accepted directly from students.
