Interview Refinement for Medical School Applicants Persons applying to medical school may be at risk of failing to be admitted because of the lack of interviewing experience and communication, professional presentation, self-confidence and knowledge of the methods and questions that guarantee successful interviews. The Skills Center addresses this need by offering an opportunity for students to practice the medical applicant interview. This 90-minute practice interview provides a learning environment in which the student will undergo an interview with a simulated “interview panel.” Their individual performances will be observed, critiqued and refined by the Skills Center’s professional staff. Teen Interpersonal Professional Skills (TIPS) Young adults may be at risk of losing career opportunities because of a lack of resume development, interview experience, professional presentation, self-confidence and knowledge of the expectations of employers during initial interviews. The Skills Center offers a one-day interactive workshop for high-school students that provides a learning environment in which the students will be presented with professionalism knowledge and skills and then will be required to demonstrate them. Their performance will be observed, critiqued and refined by Skills Center staff. Scores of each interview with recommendations for continued improvement are provided. Students who participated in the program will have web-based access to their performances in Digital recordings. Communication and Active Listening Skills Workshop (CALS) Front-line personnel may be at risk of creating difficult situations for the company or themselves because of a lack of communication and listening skills, professional presentation, self-confidence and knowledge of the methods that guarantee successful interactions. The Skills Center offers a 1/2 or full-day interactive workshop for front-line staff. The workshop provides a learning environment in which learners first will be presented with professionalism knowledge and skills and then will be required to demonstrate them. Their performance will be observed, critiqued and refined by Skills Center professional staff. Scores of each interview with recommendations for continued improvement are provided. Learners who participated in the program will have web-based access to their performances in Digital recordings. |
