Dr. Ullal hails from Bangalore, India is now a resident of Norfolk, Virginia. He first joined the Strelitz Diabetes Center at Eastern Virginia Medical School as a graduate student after obtaining his primary medical degree Kasturba Medical College Mangalore, India. Upon completion of Graduate studies in Biomedical Science Research from EVMS, he went on to finish a American Diabetes Association sponsored research fellowship and worked on autoimmune dysfunction associated with diabetic neuropathy. He successfully completed Internship and Residency training in Internal Medicine and then Fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at EVMS and is now an Assistant Professor in the Endocrine Division and a director of the bone density screening program at the Strelitz Diabetes Center. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes. His research interests are in the area of diabetes microvacular complications and diabetic neuropathy and he has published journal articles, book chapters, case reports and has had poster presentations at national conferences. His other interests are pituitary diseases, male hypogonadism, clinical bone densitometry and thyroid ultrasonography.
