Matthew Bourcier, MPA, PA-C

Matt Bourcier began his research as a student in Eastern Virginia Medical School’s Master of Physician Assistant program from December 1999 until his graduation in 2001. After working in Occupational Medicine for five years, he rejoined the Strelitz Diabetes Center to begin working in the Neuroendocrine and Clinical Research Units in May 2006. He received his B.S. in Biology and B.A. in Chemistry from Virginia Tech and has maintained certification as a Physician Assistant since 2001. His areas of interest include the diagnosis/management of diabetic neuropathies and neuroendocrine tumors. Matt is a strong advocate of both professional and patient education. His findings have been published in peer-reviewed journals such as The Journal of Family Practice, Therapeutics and Clinical Risk Management, and The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism. He is an Associate Faculty Member of F1000 for Multiple Endocrine Disorders & Neoplasias and was a guest speaker at The American Diabetes Association convention in June 2009 in New Orleans.

Roni Bright, MSN, RN, ACNP-C

Roni Bright is a certified acute-care nurse practitioner. She received her master’s degree from Old Dominion University and her post-master’s degree from University of Virginia. Her areas of specialty are cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Her nursing background includes 20 years of working with cardiovascular patients in the acute-care setting. Her clinical interests include Diabetes Type I & II, insulin pump therapy, dysmetabolic syndrome motivating behavioral changes for healthy lifestyles and thyroid disease.
