Shannon Trewartha graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology from the University of Rio Grande in Rio Grande, Ohio. She has a Master of Science in Art Therapy from Eastern Virginia Medical School.

Ms. Trewartha is a registered, board-certified art therapist. She recently joined the faculty as an adjunct professor, teaching the adolescent art psychotherapy skills course and co-facilitating case conference skills course. She also provided clinical supervision to students during their adolescent practica.

Clinical focus has been on providing individual, group, and family art therapy to adolescents in short and long-term residential treatment settings. Thesis research focused on assessing attachment of adolescents in foster care using the Birds Nest Drawing and Story (Kaiser, 1996).

Ms. Trewartha enjoys using variety of processes and materials when creating personal artwork. Other interests include activity planning, exploring nature, group exercise, alternative medicine, and traveling abroad.
