The Department of Physiological Sciences is responsible for providing instruction in the basic principles and concepts of physiology, biochemistry, and pharmacology to first and second year medical students. Additionally, the faculty are involved in several research areas, including collaborations with other faculty at EVMS and at other academic institutions and industry. The general research areas cover cardiovascular science, ophthalmology, andrology, cancer, and drug metabolism. Signal transduction research is a large component in each of these areas.
