Reason_JenniferI am thrilled to be part of the EVMS Ob/Gyn family! This program balances the academics, volume and pathology of a busy urban-based experience with an incredibly supportive and nurturing environment. The attendings, residents, and department staff are all very approachable, with an open-door policy at all times. I am here with my husband and family, we all love living in this area - especially fishing in the Chesapeake Bay on days off! As a Canadian person, I especially appreciate the climate - we don't have to deal with winters. My husband and I intend to stay in this area upon completion of residency.

Jennifer Reason, D.O., PGY-3

Duke_AdamI chose EVMS because I felt most at home here. Every person went out of their way to help me during the application process, and the program directors stayed in touch with me throughout the match answering my questions. Most important to me is the school’s desire to keep couples together in the match. I knew that I wanted to be at a place that would put family first. Of course, the beach is great too!

Bogard_ShrylenaThe EVMS program is an academic one with a community feel – just what I wanted. My interest in pediatric/adolescent Ob/Gyn brought me here to train in the Teen Clinic at EVMS and to learn from pediatric consults at the Children’s Hospital. The attendings, residents, and staff are most supportive. The residency office meets our needs and requests in a heartbeat with a smile and cookies! I made the right choice! For my residency training and for locale.

Hutchison_StephanieI am amazed at the volume of patients and pathology we take care of in this residency. As the referral base in northeastern North Carolina, southeastern Virginia, and the eastern shore of Virginia for all high-risk obstetrics, we experience and learn from thousands of patients.

I am here with my husband and two children who love the area: the excellent school system where my kids are thriving, the music program in the public schools, the arts and entertainment, museums and history. We have family passes to Busch Gardens through the EVMS benefits program. We are there often when are not attending a local festival, arts fair or event at the Oceanfront. We love it here!

Parson_AngelaI like the accessibility of the faculty and the interactions with the academic and community Attendings who are eager to teach and support our training. I was impressed, initially, with the attention that is paid to Resident suggestions and satisfaction as a visiting-acting intern. I have come to appreciate even more the way Resident suggestions are incorporated to make the program even better. We have a cohesive, diverse group of residents that on the whole, get along. With the growing subspecialties, high risk obstetrics, and intimate faculty involvement, it's an awesome environment to train in.

Dumitrescu_AdinaI have been in Norfolk a couple of times before coming for an interview. I enjoyed the city, the climate, the beach, and ocean. When I became a resident, I found my fellow residents and faculty like a real family – warm and supportive. I am very happy with my choice.
