Obstetrics and Gynecology residents receive hands-on technical training through the clinical-skills simulation laboratory located at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. The center includes a computerized laparoscopic simulator, mother/baby interactive model, advanced childbirth simulator, knot-tying trainer, episiotomy trainer, and interactive pelvis and female perineum. The system also gives residents additional practice in using forceps and vacuum. Residents are expected to master basic and advanced skills at graduated intervals with direct faculty supervision.
