Advanced Clerkship in Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology
Offered by: Periods Offered: Jul-May Duration: 4 weeks Number of Students: 1 Student Level: Year 4 Night Call: Yes Report First Day: Hofheimer Hall, third floor, 8 a.m. Course Description: This elective permits the assumption of greater patient responsibility on the part of the medical student, in both the outpatient and inpatient settings. This elective is recommended if a student is interested in pursuing a residency in OB/GYN and desire more in depth exposure to the specialty. The faculty will be pleased to attempt to tailor a program to the student’s particular interest, but the basic usual expectation should be advanced clinical management and reinforcement of cognitive material and problem-solving skills. The student will function as an “acting intern.”Distribution of Student’s Effort: Patient Contact: 70% Inpatient, 30% Outpatient; 14 hrs/wk rounds; 7 hrs/wk conferences/lectures; 8 hrs/wk study/reading time; 10 hrs/wk faculty contact time Objectives:
