In support of the Medical School's policy of providing a Tobacco Free Environment, Eastern Virginia Medical School along with it's medical campus partners, Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters, and Sentara Norfolk General Hospital effective January 1, 2009 is 100% tobacco-free with no smoking or tobacco products permitted anywhere, including parking lots and sidewalks.

Hospitals and Schools nationwide are quickly moving in this direction. The goal is to provide a healthier environment for everyone by eliminating the dangerous effects of second-hand smoke and to help staff, patients, and visitors adopt a healthier lifestyle through tobacco cessation.
