Antoinette F. Hood, M.D. Professor and Chair Department of Dermatology
The Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) Dermatopathology Consultative Services offer dermatopathological expertise along with the skills of a practicing clinical dermatologist. Dr. Hood received her medical degree from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee. She completed a Dermatology residency at the Harvard University Department of Dermatology and a Dermatopathology fellowship from the Department of Pathology at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Hood is board-certified in Dermatology and Dermatopathology. She is the Executive Director of the American Board of Dermatology, Chairperson of the Distance Learning Committee of the American Academy of Dermatology and a member of the editorial boards of the Journal of Cutaneous Pathology, International Journal of Dermatology and the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology.
For the primary-care physician, Dr. Hood provides diagnoses that aid in developing a treatment plan, guiding therapy and educating patients about the nature of their disease. For the dermatologist, this consult provides follow-up for difficult clinical problems, helps define sophisticated clinical cases and use these examples to educate future physicians. Attracting new clients is a first step - building lasting client relationships is the ultimate goal.
