The Ophthalmology Residency Program at Eastern Virginia Medical School provides competent, ethical ophthalmic care to patients over a large catchment across the Hampton Roads community.  Residents gain experience at five different hospitals, along with many more private clinics, and learn to treat a wide variety of ocular pathology in comprehensive ophthalmology, pediatrics, glaucoma, cornea, retina, oculoplastics, and neurophthalmology.  EVMS residents gain experience in many ophthalmologic surgical procedures, particularly cataract extraction, advanced glaucoma procedures, pediatric surgery and ocular trauma.  The program has consistently maintained full accreditation by the ACGME.
