HIV / AIDS FALL SUMMIT An Eastern Regional HIV/AIDS Fall Summit will be held on September 22, 2010. AIDS RESOURCE CENTER Eastern Virginia Medical School (757) 446-6170 VIRGINIA HIV/AIDS RESOURCE AND CONSULTATION CENTER The Virginia HIV/AIDS Resource and Consultation Center was founded in 1989 to respond to the need to expand medical care and support services for persons living with HIV infection and AIDS in Eastern Virginia. The Center links the resources of Eastern Virginia.
SERVICES The HIV/AIDS Resource Center offers a range of services to health care professionals, including: Media Materials: The latest technical, audiovisual, and educational materials for staff and patient education are available. Library services include database searches, interlibrary loans, current awareness information, and answers to reference questions.
The services of the Center are provided through a grant from Virginia Commonwealth University via the Virginia Department of Health. NEWSLETTER The HIV/AIDS Resource Center's newsletter, with current news, statistics, and listings of classes may be accessed by clicking on: NewsletterJul-Aug-Sept_2010_edition.pdf PEER EDUCATOR CLASS The admission criteria is: HIV positive individual with a desire to learn, teach, and function as a positive role model. Candidates for certification must be able and committed to complete ALL components of the program and attend all 5 consecutive Wednesday sessions in order to receive a Peer Educator certificate. Upon completion of this program, Peer Educators will be able to successfully complete a post-test with a passing score and give a 20 minute presentation to be evaluated by their peers. Applications for the next class may be obtained by calling the AIDS Resource Center at (757) 446-6170. This class is generally offered twice a year.
