EVMS Service and Recognition Awards

Nominate a Staff Member

Ceremony

  • When: Tuesday, November 1, 2011, 5:30 to 8 p.m.(Program begins at 6:30 p.m.
  • Where: Norfolk Waterside Marriott
  • Attire: Business or business casual.
  • Register for the event.

The President's Staff Achievement Awards honor outstanding performance by staff of Eastern Virginia Medical School. The awards are presented at an annual ceremony where the school also honors outstanding faculty and recognizes employees who have achieved milestone years of continuous service. Check out the employees who are marking milestone years of service in 2011 and read about the inaugural ceremony and the 2010 award recipients.

Nominations are being accepted through September 30, 2011. The awards will be presented at the EVMS Service and Recognition Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, November 1, 2011

Nomination procedure

The President's Staff Achievement Awards are presented in five categories. Please use the online nomination forms linked below. The nominator provides the name, title and department of the nominee and submits these together with an essay of up to 200 words describing the accomplishments of the nominee.

The 2011 President's Staff Achievement Awards Committee is composed of previous award recipients. The committee will evaluate the nominations and select the 2011 recipients.

Deadline

Please submit your electronic nomination no later than October 7, 2011.

Eligibility

All non-faculty employees in good standing with at least one year of service to the Medical School are eligible to receive recognition with the President's Award. Each recipient will receive a monetary award and a commemorative plaque. An employee recognized with a President's Award is not eligible to receive the same award for a period of five years.

2011 Awards Committee

The 2011 President's Awards Committee is made up of previous award recipients. Members include: Rick Lowery, Josephine Pendleton, Ben Cuffee, Carolyn Schaffer and Bob Williams, PhD.

Outstanding Achievement

Purpose and Criteria

The purpose of the EVMS President's Award for Outstanding Achievement is to recognize employees for an assortment of exceptional efforts and contributions to EVMS. This award recognizes an employee who:

  • Demonstrates commitment to the school's mission, vision and values
  • Exhibits outstanding conduct and exceeds expectations in the performance of duties
  • Performs assigned tasks in an exemplary fashion and inspires others to do the same
  • Exemplifies outstanding conduct in the performance of duties over a period of years
  • Demonstrates outstanding reliability and cooperation
  • Motivates co-workers

Eligibility and Award

All non-faculty employees in good standing with at least one year of service to EVMS are eligible to receive recognition with this award. Each recipient will receive a monetary award and a commemorative plaque. An employee recognized with a President's Award is not eligible to receive the same award for a period of five years.

Purpose and Criteria

The purpose of the EVMS President's Award for Collegiality is to recognize an employee who champions EVMS, making an outstanding and lasting contribution to EVMS initiatives and programs. This award recognizes an employee who:

  • Demonstrates commitment to the school's mission, vision and values
  • Initiates cooperative and productive interaction among coworkers and inspires others to do the same
  • Builds strong and mutually supportive relationships to further EVMS' goals in education, research, and patient care

Eligibility and Award

All non-faculty employees in good standing with at least one year of service to the Medical School are eligible to receive recognition with this award. Each recipient will receive a monetary award and a commemorative plaque. An employee recognized with a President's Award is not eligible to receive the same award for a period of five years.

Purpose and Criteria

The purpose of the EVMS President's Award for Excellence is to recognize the employee who excels in his/her work and consistently performs beyond expectations. This award recognizes an employee who:

  • Demonstrates commitment to the school's mission, vision and values
  • Surpasses performance requirements of his/her position with distinction and merit
  • Provides outstanding service to the Medical School, students, and/or fellow employees
  • Promotes or improves the image of EVMS.

All non-faculty employees in good standing with at least one year of service to the Institution are eligible to receive recognition with this award. Each recipient will receive a monetary award and a commemorative plaque. An employee recognized with a President's Award is not eligible to receive the same award for a period of five years.

Purpose and Criteria

The purpose of the EVMS President's Award for Integrity is to recognize the employee who lives by the highest ethical standards. This award recognizes an employee who:

  • Demonstrates commitment to the school's mission, vision and values
  • Demonstrates character and adheres to ethical principles in the workplace
  • Is dependable and forthright in all his/her actions
  • Serves as a role model by exhibiting an unwavering dedication to his/her role in the institution

Eligibility and Award

All non-faculty employees in good standing with at least one year of service to the Medical School are eligible to receive recognition with this award. Each recipient will receive a monetary award and a commemorative plaque. An employee recognized with a President's Award is not eligible to receive the same award for a period of five years.

Community Service

Purpose and Criteria

The purpose of the EVMS President's Award for Community Service is to confer distinction upon an EVMS employee for his/her efforts and community contributions. This award recognizes an employee who:

  • Demonstrates commitment to the school's mission, vision and values
  • Exhibits a broad-based and continuing commitment to community and/or public service
  • Makes significant charitable or philanthropic contributions of benefit to the community

Eligibility and Award

All non-faculty employees in good standing with at least one year of service to the Medical School are eligible to receive recognition with this award. Each recipient will receive a monetary award and a commemorative plaque. An employee recognized with a President's Award is not eligible to receive the same award for a period of five years.
