Interview Day: FAQ:

What time should I arrive?  When will the day be over?

Please view the interview day schedule. It explains where to be and when to be there. Arrival time at Lewis Hall is 10 a.m., and the day is over after your personal interview has ended.

Where do I park?

Parking is available at your expense in the public parking garage across from Lewis Hall. (Located off of Olney Road). Check the Campus Map link provided on the interview day information page.

How many applicants will be interviewed?

Approximately 650 – 800 applicants are interviewed each year from September through March.

What kind of interview is it?  One-on-one? Panel?

The interview is a panel interview that lasts about 30 to 40 minutes. Ideally, the interview panel consists of a basic scientist, a clinician and a medical student. One member of the interview panel is a member of the MD Admissions Committee.

Will I get a chance to interact with students?

There is plenty of opportunity to interact with students on your interview day. Students will take you on a tour of Lewis Hall, the Harry T. Lester Education and Research Building, and accompany you to lunch.  Our students are extremely warm and friendly, and most of them will approach you.

After my interview, how long will it be before a decision about my candidacy is made?

Generally, it takes about four weeks after your interview before you are notified of a decision about your candidacy. The earliest an acceptance can be offered (for the General Pool) is October 15th, and for the Early Acceptance Program (EAP), no later than October 1st.

How does the waiting list work?

Once placed on the waiting list, you are encouraged to call the Office of Admissions to learn about your placement. Since EVMS has rolling admissions, there is normally a lot of movement on the waiting list. We will offer approximately 300 acceptances to fill a class of 146.
